As part of ongoing humanitarian efforts to alleviate the suffering of affected families, the Egyptian Committee, in cooperation with World Central Kitchen, carried out a new humanitarian intervention that included the distribution of avocados to a number of Egyptian camps and displacement camps. This initiative aims to support food security and improve the nutritional value of meals provided to displaced families.
This intervention came in response to field needs identified over the past period, as thousands of families in the camps are suffering from a clear shortage of fresh, nutrient-rich foods, particularly amid difficult living conditions and an almost complete reliance on humanitarian aid to secure
daily food.
The distribution covered several camps hosting displaced families living under harsh humanitarian conditions. Avocados were delivered as a high-nutritional-value food, containing essential elements that contribute to supporting the health of children, women, and the elderly, and enhancing nutrition amid the limited food options available.
Field teams participating in the distribution confirmed that this step falls within a broader humanitarian vision aimed at diversifying the food assistance basket and not limiting aid to basic staples alone, while taking into account the health and nutritional aspects of families and helping to reduce the effects of malnutrition, especially among children.
This cooperation between the Egyptian Committee and World Central Kitchen reflects a model of joint humanitarian action based on coordination and integration of efforts to reach the largest possible number of beneficiaries, and to ensure that assistance is delivered in an organized manner that preserves the dignity of families and
considers their difficult reality.
This initiative comes at a time when the camps are facing major challenges, most notably food shortages, rising daily needs, and continued displacement—making such interventions have a direct impact on the lives of families and sending a message of humanitarian solidarity that affirms the suffering of displaced people has not been forgotten.
The Egyptian Committee affirmed its continued implementation of diverse humanitarian interventions in cooperation with its partners, and its efforts to provide as much food and health support as possible, in line with its humanitarian and moral commitment to support affected families and strengthen their resilience in the face of exceptionally harsh circumstances.
