Amid intensifying waves of severe cold and the continued difficult humanitarian conditions faced by thousands of affected families, the Egyptian Committee announced its readiness to implement a large-scale humanitarian intervention involving the distribution of 100,000 winter blankets. This step aims to alleviate the suffering of families and protect children and the elderly from the deadly risks of extreme cold.
The Committee confirmed that the distribution will be carried out through a wide network of initiative leaders and volunteers, ensuring rapid and effective access to the most vulnerable groups, particularly in displacement areas, shelter centers, and camps that lack even the most basic means of heating and protection.
This humanitarian intervention comes at a highly sensitive time, as thousands of families are enduring extremely cold nights inside worn-out tents and temporary shelters without adequate heating, posing a real threat to their lives and health, especially for children and the sick.
The Committee explained that relying on initiative leaders as a distribution mechanism reflects its commitment to strengthening community-based action, accelerating field response, and ensuring that aid reaches its rightful beneficiaries with dignity and fairness, free from complications, while taking into account the harsh humanitarian reality on the ground.
The Egyptian Committee reaffirmed its commitment to continuing relief interventions throughout the winter season and working to provide shelter and heating supplies, in parallel with coordination with humanitarian partners and supporters, to reduce suffering and support the resilience of affected families in the face of exceptionally harsh conditions.
This initiative is part of an ongoing humanitarian approach adopted by the Egyptian Committee, stemming from its moral and humanitarian responsibility and its belief in every human being’s right to a dignified life, even in the darkest and most difficult circumstances.
