At first light, the Egyptian Committee launched another phase of intensive field response across the Gaza Strip, as adverse weather conditions exacerbated the humanitarian situation and deepened the suffering of thousands of families, particularly those residing in temporary displacement shelters and severely affected communities.
From the earliest hours, field teams were deployed across affected areas, clearing roads blocked by floodwater, mud, and debris, and reopening vital access routes to ensure the safe movement of civilians and enable ambulances and civil defense services to provide support to stranded families, while assisting older persons and children to move safely.
As heavy rainfall and severe winds intensified, field teams continued round-the-clock operations, distributing temporary shelters and winter blankets to the most affected families to alleviate the effects of the cold and protect shelters from water infiltration, while also providing hot meals to households unable to prepare food due to the adverse weather conditions.
In several locations, Egyptian Committee teams worked to reinforce and rehabilitate damaged shelters, while addressing water accumulation around them, as part of a coordinated field effort aimed at reducing health and environmental risks, particularly for children and patients.
The Committee emphasized that these interventions form part of a comprehensive emergency plan activated at the onset of the adverse weather, coordinated with relevant authorities to ensure rapid response and reach the largest possible number of affected individuals, according to clear humanitarian priorities.
Despite long working hours and challenging conditions, field teams continued their operations with high humanitarian dedication, placing the safety and dignity of civilians at the forefront—a testament to the Egyptian Committee’s ongoing commitment to supporting community resilience and alleviating suffering under exceptional circumstances.
This day of field operations highlights the Egyptian Committee’s ongoing humanitarian commitment, extending beyond immediate aid to sustain a continuous presence alongside civilians during the most challenging and critical moments.
