Ramiz Alakbarov in Gaza: UN Praises Egypt’s Pivotal Humanitarian Role in the Strip
The United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator for the Palestinian Territories, Ramiz Alakbarov, paid an official visit to the Egyptian Committee’s headquarters in Gaza, accompanied by a delegation from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The visit included an extensive inspection of the Egyptian-managed facilities serving families affected by the deteriorating humanitarian conditions across the Strip.
Alakbarov received a comprehensive briefing on the Committee’s interventions encompassing emergency relief operations, shelter management, and winter response mechanisms addressing the challenges posed by severe weather and heavy rainfall affecting thousands of families. He observed the substantial volumes of aid delivered daily, praising the operations as “organized, effective, and underpinned by meticulous planning and rapid response.”
He expressed deep appreciation for the Egyptian efforts, emphasizing that the scale and quality of the work reflect a genuine commitment to improving living conditions. Alakbarov also noted that during a recent visit to Cairo, he observed the same level of professionalism, organization, and operational capacity at the Egyptian Red Crescent headquarters.
Alakbarov highlighted the comprehensive approach of the Egyptian interventions, noting that facilities provide fully equipped tents, baby milk, diapers, and food supplies, complemented by logistical services to ensure aid reaches the most vulnerable families across Gaza.
He commended the Egyptian Committee’s field teams for their unwavering morale and continuous presence on the ground, underlining that their work exemplifies a steadfast humanitarian commitment. He affirmed that this operational model serves as a benchmark for effective crisis management within the Strip.
Alakbarov concluded his visit by reaffirming his high regard for Egypt’s humanitarian institutions, emphasizing that the strategic collaboration between Egyptian authorities and the United Nations constitutes a pivotal pillar in strengthening relief operations across Gaza during this critical phase of the crisis.
