As part of ongoing humanitarian efforts to support the residents of the Gaza Strip and alleviate their daily hardships, the Egyptian Committee for the Relief of the People of Gaza announced the distribution of over ten million loaves of bread to citizens across various areas of the Strip. This is part of a large-scale relief campaign targeting families most affected by the consequences of the war.
The Committee confirmed that the distribution was a response to the urgent need for bread and basic food supplies amid severe shortages of flour and fuel for bakeries within Gaza. The loaves were produced in mobile Egyptian field bakeries set up inside Gaza under the supervision of Egyptian technical teams and in coordination with the Egyptian Red Crescent.
A responsible source at the Committee stated that the campaign was implemented in staggered phases, with bread distributed daily to shelters, hospitals, and residential neighborhoods, prioritizing families who lost their homes and displaced persons residing in the Committee’s centers in northern and central Gaza.
The Egyptian bakeries are operating at high production capacity to ensure a continuous supply of fresh bread, aiming to make bread available to all citizens without interruption until commercial and economic activity gradually resumes in Gaza.
The Committee also praised the support of Egyptian civil society organizations, which contributed flour, bakery equipment, and fuel to operate the bakeries in the Strip, emphasizing that Egypt will continue to strengthen its humanitarian presence in Gaza through new initiatives covering food, healthcare, and water.
The Committee considered this bread distribution campaign a milestone in Egyptian relief efforts, as it provides one of the most essential needs for the population directly and daily, underscoring Egypt’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian people under the most challenging circumstances.
